USC ties for 7th at the McIntyre Team Race

The team racing group of Max Hutcheson, Stephen Lue, Kelsey Rupp, Mallory Schluter, Brock Kraebel, Maggie Nolting, Erik Samuels, and Danny Kivlovitz traveled to Redwood City to compete in the first team racing regatta of the season. This young group of team racers struggled with starting, but they were on the bubble for making the gold flight at the end of round 1. After rounding the leeward mark during the final race of the first round the team had a winning 1, 4, 5 combination but they caught a couple unlucky shifts and their opponents converted into a 2, 3, 5 to take the race. As a result, the team was in the silver flight which finished with a 3-way tie for 7th place overall in the regatta. This was a great learning experience and the Trojans have plenty of opportunities to improve their results in the future.
