2nd and 5th at South 5

This past weekend, the Trojans hosted 25 teams for the South 5 Designate Regatta. In order to be eligible to sail in PCC’s, schools had to send a team to this regatta. On Saturday, six races in moderate breeze were completed off the Long Beach Pier. Sunday morning, the race committee decided to move the race course to inside Alamitos Bay, where four more races were completed in 15 knots with gusts over 20. USC entered two teams in the regatta, with Max Hutchenson/Alexis Tarajikan in A for the Trojans and Mallory Schluter/Olivia Gebelein in B.  Trojans 2 consisted of Kelsey Rupp/Erik Samuels in A and Danny Kivlovitz/Peggy Bobbin/Alessandro Marazzi-Sassoon in B. The Trojans finished second overall, with no finish over 8th in the B Division. Trojans 2 finished in fifth place overall, with Kivolvitz and Marazzi-Sassoon winning a race in the breeze! Congratulations to the whole team on a great weekend!
