Getting the 1, 2 at Home

With abnormal conditions USC still managed to successfully defend at Home, racing inside in the turning basin right outside ABYC with current and a SSE breeze. There were 6 teams really vying for the top at the start at the regatta and took half the regatta to see that number even drop to 5. From there our B division in both our Varsity Coed and Women’s team averaged below 3rd finishes, pulling the their team in to the 1st and 2nd positions. Coming into the last rotation Coed had a 10 point cushion to 2nd and Women’s had a 9 point cushion to 3rd. Cal Maritime (3rd) had a good last rotation but not enough to climb up a spot. Picture is of Paul Chyz and Hope Modugno rounding the weather mark in first with a giant gap to second.
