The Women of Troy travelled to Hawaii April 21-22 to sail in the PCCSC Women’s Championship, which served as the qualifier for ICSA Women’s Nationals and Semifinals.  Friday morning was spent on the beach as tourists followed by an afternoon practice at the venue.  Saturday the sailors were greeted by strong trade winds and beautiful weather.  With A and B division on the water at the same time, a double round robin went by quickly and the regatta was finished on Saturday.  Racing was close all day in the shifty conditions of Keehi Lagoon, especially between the University of Hawaii and the Trojans.  The Trojans were extremely consistent, with only one finish outside of the top 3 in each division.  In the end, Hawaii edged out the Trojans by just 4 points for second place.  The Trojans third place finish qualifies them for the ICSA Women’s Semifinals May 30-June 2 in Austin, Texas!  Sunday the team was lucky enough to go have fun at the Sandbar in Kaneohe Bay with most of the other teams. Congratulations to the team of Kelsey Rupp, Alexis Tarakjian, Mallory Schluter, and Olivia Gebelein.  We would also like to extend a big thanks to the University of Hawaii and Andy Johnson for running the regatta, and to the Wheeler family for being amazing hosts!!
